Your Holy Grail Trip
Okay, so the goats in the trees story struck a chord, and I shouldn’t be surprised to hear that many of you have your own holy grail dream trips.
They’ve given me a few more ideas, maybe they’ll do the same for you. Here are a few:
- Janet Spurr, author of Beach Chair Diaries, says this is her holy grail trip: “I want to travel via sailboat around the South Islands, which I might be doing with friends next August. Also, I want to be invited to the Hawaiian Island of Nihau, which is exclusively for Hawaiians.”
- Tokyo-based musician Laurier Tiernan says that his holy grail trip would be to vacation up or down the coast of California, staying in beautiful beach-side hotels with his wife, swimming in the ocean every morning, eating wonderful vegetarian food everyday, and playing a show every other night with his band. “It would be like combining an ideal vacation with my ideal tour,” he notes.
- Angela Larke of Massachusetts wants to go to Sicily “to research my Nana’s family and hopefully meet cousins who live there and get stories and information about my great-grandparents that I haven’t heard yet,” she says. “I’d finish it all off with side trips to Rome and Greece to see the places I taught about for four years while teaching 6th grade south of Boston!”
- Richard J. Atkins’ dream trip is to ride his BMW motorcycle through all 49 U.S. states in the North American continent. “I’d start where I live, in New York, and work my way west through the upper states on the map, making a quick detour up to Alaska — quick, I said! — then back down, completing the journey through the lower portion of the 48 contiguous states.”
- Says Jenn Voss, “I’d love to visit the Canadian Rockies. I’ve always been a big fan of vacationing in the U.S. Rockies but have heard they don’t hold a candle to the Canadian Rockies. As an overall sports nut, I’m more apt to visit in the summer for the daylight and the golf. There are some truly magnificent golf courses in Alberta — Jasper Park, Fairmont Banff Springs, Silvertip, Stewart Creek, Kananaskis and more.”
- Jennifer Juergens of New York says she’s finally going to visit St. Petersburg, Russia next week. “I always wanted to take my mom there, she was an artist. But she died before I could take her.”
