Take Me To The Airport!
Undoubtedly you’ve seen me before. Or someone like me.
I’m the one in the window seat grinning like a maniac as the plane hurtles down the tarmac. I’m holding my breath as I anticipate the exact moment when wheels and asphalt break contact and we are airborne.
I love to travel. I also love where I live. In fact, I landed in Charleston SC, because I spent one day here as a tourist and decided this was my kind of place. But it didn’t dampen my enthusiasm for travel. In fact, if anything, it’s enhanced it. Probably because the Holy City is such a tourist mecca itself. Seeing all the bewildered tourists with their maps wander down my street, the look of wonder on their faces as they delve deeply into the joy of exploring a new place, makes me jealous and want to experience it for myself.
Which is when I start planning my next trip.
You’ll discover through my regular posts on TripQuips that I have a hankering for all things culinary, vinological — my word for wine — and just plain quirky. In other words, if there’s even the promise of a good meal, glass of wine, and interesting people, I’m there.
And if it doesn’t live up to my expectations — which admittedly, are pretty basic — then the thrill of discovering a new place and exploring it to the extent I can, given the time frame and my budget, and the fact that I’ve crossed it off my list, more than suffices.
I have a huge bucket list: it’s anywhere I haven’t already been.
The sky’s the limit as to what I will cover here, trends, destinations, unusual offerings, and as always, people who are doing something just a little bit differently.
Because after all, that’s what travel’s all about: doing something different from your everyday.
