Stray Roamings Through My Inbox
I get a lot of email from hotels, resorts, authors, etc., all who want me to tell you about them. After awhile, especially after a particularly heavy email week, some of it starts to blur together. This just makes certain ideas, attractions, and trends stand out all the more.
Here are a few:
*Guaranteed connected rooms at resorts. Multigenerational travel is in, and many family members want the option to roam from room to room without venturing out into the hallway. Why you’d want Uncle Harry the sleepwalker to barge in on you in the middle of the night is beyond me, but hey, whatever makes you tick. Resorts that offer the option include the St. Kitts Marriott Resort with their “Stay Connected” Family Package, and the Harbor Beach Marriott Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, where guests who reserve a Wind-Drift suite receive a guaranteed oceanfront connecting room for $100 per night.
*Speaking of St. Kitts… While airlines everywhere have drastically cut flights or eliminated them altogether, St. Kitts is currently experiencing a mini-boom in tourism. Signature Vacations is flying to St. Kitts this winter from Canada and Delta Airlines recently announced that it’s adding a second direct flight from Atlanta to St. Kitts beginning December 23rd. I tried to book a trip last year, and it would have required three legs on a trip that lasted 18 hours end to end. It was just too much, and I ended up cancelling.
*Palm Springs, California. I didn’t know that Palm Springs has a) more than 350 days of sunshine a year, b) winter temps ranging from the 70s (F) to the 50s, from October to March, and c) it’s a two-hour drive from San Diego and Los Angeles.

*And now for something completely different: The ChoZu Bath and Tea Gardens in Ashland, Oregon, has a variety of items on their menu, offering Pilates classes, premium sake, massage and body wraps, even chiropractic sessions. They’ve recently added a few new guest cottages, and between the steam rooms, salt-water hot pool, sauna and cold plunge, ChoZu offers more ways to relax than you can shake a stick at.
