Does it Pay to be Loyal?
They say that loyalty has disappeared. I cannot disagree more.
It pays to be loyal.
We are faced with more options than ever before, and with that comes the temptation to yo yo between choices rather than staying loyal to one . There will always be a cheaper, easier, more exciting option than the last. But when you find a brand, service, restaurant or product that works for you it pays to show loyalty.
Number one, we are naturally creatures of habit and a little familiarity goes along way. And secondly, with continual loyalty comes the benefit of comfort, ease, security and in many cases, a heightened and more bespoke service.
Why should it change when making a purchase?
Let’s name some popular programs: Aeroplan, Air Miles, American Express & more…
I use them all and I can honestly say that I try and be as loyal as I can. Aeroplan has so many partners that one flight or a couple of expenditures will give me enough points to claim something for free. You won’t get every transaction at the cheapest rates, but you will build enough points in the end to afford you something you would not have been able to. Most recently, I used points accumulated through flying with Air Canada, using Avis for car rentals and my CIBC Aerogold to outfit my basement home theatre.
That works for me.
Loyalty can be outlined and discussed in many, different ways. I believe in building relationships and using those relationships to make qualified and informed decisions.
You may spend $10 more or save $100, but in the end you will be rewarded for doing it.
